A major controversy has emerged after Arghya Mukherjee, the personal assistant of popular Tollywood actress Srabanti Chatterjee, was arrested following a rape allegation. Police from the Chatterjeehat Police Station in Howrah, West Bengal, took him into custody based on a formal complaint, and a court later ordered him to judicial custody.

According to police, the complainant and the accused were associated with the same event management company. The woman alleged that she was sexually assaulted at the accused's residence on April 12. After filing an official complaint on June 27, police launched an investigation that led to his arrest.

Following the incident, Srabanti Chatterjee addressed the matter publicly through social media. She stated that Arghya had been handling her professional assignments through an event management company since 2024. The actress said she had no knowledge of his personal life or the allegations against him. Upon learning about the case, she decided to end all professional ties with him and informed the management company of her decision.

Meanwhile, the defense attorney has claimed that the complainant and the accused knew each other previously and suggested that the case may involve personal relationship issues. However, police continue to investigate the allegations, and the matter remains before the court.

As this is an ongoing legal case, the allegations have not been proven in court. The accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty through the legal process.
